8 Amazing Team Building Activities in Charleston, SC

Harbor Bar Pedal Tour

Celebrate the crew that keeps your company afloat with a Harbor Bar Pedal Tour! The fresh sea breezes, mild climate, coastal views, engaged physical activity, and regular dolphin sightings make Harbor Bar Pedal Tours one of the most popular team-building activities in Charleston. You’ll make memories and swap stories while working together in a fresh, new way.

Each boat offers 12 pedal stations with adjustable resistance levels, so you can work together as a team (or relax and let the boat’s motor do all the work). Tours accommodate up to 26 guests, with seating available at the bow and pedal bar and additional space for moving around or even dancing.

Harbor Bar Pedal Tours include the use of private, onboard restroom facilities, a state-of-the-art Bluetooth-accessible sound system, and coolers for whatever beverages you opt to pack to enjoy on your tour. We select our routes to ensure smooth sailing and unforgettable seaside views of local scenery, sure to enthrall both first-time visitors and locals. Let us turn on the party lights, and your team will forget it’s a work function!

Golf

Are you ready to tee off with your favorite coworkers? Golfing is one of the Lowcountry’s most leisurely activities, and this Charleston team-building activity allows you to enjoy some healthy competition while soaking up the local scenery. Book a tee time at the Ocean Course at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort to experience the most seaside holes in the Northern Hemisphere, or treat yourself to 18 holes at Wild Dunes Resort, voted among the “Best in State” courses for South Carolina.

Walking Tour

See the Holy City (and get those steps in) with a walking tour as one of your Charleston team-building activities. You can tailor the experience to your group by selecting a ghost, historical, or culinary tour. You and your coworkers will learn new aspects of Charleston’s culture and history while wandering the city’s most iconic streets in this fun-for-all-ages experience.

Carriage Ride

Exploring Charleston by horse-drawn carriage is an activity that dates back to colonial days. Step away from the hectic pace of the office and relax in this leisurely group activity. While brushing up on American history, you’ll take in some of Charleston’s most opulent homes and notable landmarks.

Ropes Course

For an adventurous day of Charleston team-building, sign up for a ropes course! The course ranges from “mild to wild” as you navigate obstacles, confront challenges, and utilize your problem-solving skills. You’ll push your limits as individuals and as a team while creating memories and strengthening your relationships. Check out Wild Blue Adventure Course or James Island County Park for more information.

Escape Room

Escape Rooms are a classic Charleston team-building activity. Each escape room is styled with a different theme, and your team will be given a set time frame to complete puzzles and ciphers, explore leadership roles, and work together toward a common goal. You also have your choice of theme when it comes to your escape room experience. Join your coworkers in cracking codes from WWII or race the clock for your lives during a zombie apocalypse. Check Break Out Charleston, Escape in 60, or Elite Escape Games for the current offerings.

Historic Site Guided Tour

One of the Lowcountry’s most notable features is its abundance of historic landmarks, making guided tours an extremely popular Charleston team-building activity, particularly for out-of-town visitors. Step back in time with an in-depth look at life in the 1800s of one of Charleston’s stunning historic homes, like the Williams Mansion, the Heyward-Washington House, or the Aiken-Rhett House. Take a scenic drive to one of the area plantations, such as Middleton Plantation, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, McLeod Plantation, or Boone Hall to learn about the complicated antebellum period. You can also hop a ferry to explore Fort Sumter, one of two forts that once defended the Charleston Harbor.

Fishing, Crabbing, or Clamming

Are you looking for a unique team-building activity in Charleston to fill the greater part of a day? Grab your sunglasses and sunblock and prepare to spend a day on the water reaping the bounty of the sea. Take your team fishing, crabbing, or clamming for an adventurous outdoor experience that may require stepping outside your comfort zone, but that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the local seafood industry. Make your inquiries well in advance, as space may be limited and harvest opportunities may be seasonal.

Are you ready to treat your team to an unforgettable day of fun, sunshine, and sweeping views of the Charleston Harbor? Our knowledgeable staff is here to answer any questions you may have, and we can’t wait to welcome you aboard! Book your Harbor Bar Pedal Tour today.

We had an absolute blast on this pedal tour for an October bachelorette party! The hosts were fantastic, entertaining and extremely responsive via text message with explicit instructions with how to get there, etc. The drinks were flowing and the music was great (we may have done more dancing than actual pedaling). Would highly recommend this tour!

We booked a Harborbar Pedal Tour boat for our friend's bachelorette party a few weeks ago and it was the best experience! The boat was spacious, clean, and much nicer/newer than any of the competitors' boats we saw out that day. Paul was a blast - professional but also very fun and entertaining. Plenty of cooler space to bring your own drinks and a lounge area in the front of the boat if you don't want to sit on the bike seats. We had so much fun we didn't want to get off the boat. I HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone in Charleston looking for a pedal tour!
